sw_config can be very frustrating, but you are 99% there. I recommend maybe trying a different drive if you have one handy, or just walking away for a day and come back fresh and follow the document pointed out earlier very closely, and do it a few times. It took me weeks to get my first stonefs going, and I can't even tell you what I was doing wrong, but it was something subtle.

BTW are your two drives in the tezro the same brand? are they the same model number? sw_config is very very dumb and similar model drives on the same scsi controller really mess it up

They're different makes, but almost exactly the same capacity:

To alter or create a stone.

logged in as your flame user, su to root.
sw_stop
sw_unmount all
sw_config &

Once in sw_config, clear all and then zero both the two top entries (offset & Length), this ensures, it starts at zero and uses the whole disk.

Now, I once had a stone whereby I had to amend the KB/inode, but you should never normally have to worry about this.

Click Add and Create, then select your drive. Click save and lets see what happens.

It seems that by uninstalling flame, I messed up IRIX in a way in which when I now try to start flame I get errors!

It safely looks like I'm going to have to do a fresh install ion IRIX on the machine, and I will swap out the drives for this purpose!

Does installing other software on the system mess flame up?

What is the error message? I have uninstalled, reinstalled many times, even on top of systems with lots of other software, there should be no issue.

I would guess that you may encounter problems if you install older versions of discreet products post install of a later one.

It seemed to be pages of missing libraries.

This has also given me the opportunity to try the other disk in the machine for the frame store .

Once I'm done with the IRIX install, I'm going to have to set up my NFS again as well as the internet connection for the machine.
