Current Anime

RE: Current Anime
God, it's hard to keep this thread up - the last three years or so have been a constant stream of shows I either didn't know we were getting or had kinda forgotten about in the wait for. Best pleasant-surprise series so far this season is definitely Bocchi the Rock, which is basically K-On! with the protagonist swapped out for a shut-in with crippling social anxiety. Only one episode in so far, but the VA is absolutely bringing the goods on her character's tragicomic exasperation with her own dysfunction. (I may be biased here; the scene with her sitting in class, desperately trying to passively hint anybody at all into striking up a conversation was pretty much my entire school experience.)

Also caught the first episode of the Urusei Yatsura remake - gosh, it's weird seeing vintage late-'70s character designs done up with modern production values, especially since the first anime adaptation simplified Takahashi's visual style down to the point where it was halfway to original Funky Winkerbean instead. Also nice to see less arbitrary futzing with the source material - not that a gag manga straddling the Carter-Reagan boundary is exactly holy writ, but their alterations pretty much never improved anything. The new series could use some spit-'n-polish itself in the writing department, and not all of the actors quite measure up (none are bad, thus far, but some of them are lacking a certain je ne sais quois that the original cast nailed - Lum's VA in particular is going to have a hard time topping the original "Space Zha Zha Gabor" interpretation,) but hopefully they find their feet with it soon-ish.

(Also, Ataru's mom remains one of my favorite Worst Person characters.)

Bocchi the Rock is fun, I just started it. I had serious social anxiety as a teen, so I empathize with Hitori.

Yeah, they absolutely killed it throughout the season. Hoping for more, but I'm glad we got it either way :)

Curious to see what all starts up this next season; I haven't been keeping up on what's in the pipeline...

RE: Current Anime
Last week Gundam Hathaway TV version was broadcasted (I dont have TV so not watched).

Monday this week I watched Berserk Memorial Edition at Netflix, I can not find a word expressing my emotions. I was not interested in Berserk (both of original manga and anime), but now I just fan of the story.
