Why do you like anime?

RE: Why do you like anime?
Ageism is certainly present in society. I'm mildly annoyed at a Sinaboo and a Jacobin making fun of people who enjoy anime.

The former proceeded to insinuate that functioning adults can't enjoy a medium that has many facets and clearly goes all the way from kids shows (e.g. Pretty Cure type stuff) all the way Ghost in The Shell.

The latter is much better behaved, mostly, but made an edgy serial killer joke when he previously stated in a prior thread that he finds the presence of a forum here ans on Nekochan dedicated to Japan to be off-putting.

Which is fine; neither of them have to like it but I don't necessarily need them coming in here and taking a shit on my curb on a topic that they have no passion for. That's why I called him an old sack. I respect that you ans probably others found it unnecessary, and that's fine. But I'm not going to walk it back when Hamei has continued to be a problem user and has a history with one of the staff here to the point that me and Kaigan are charged with handling him because that staff member wants no part in being hurled abuse by Hamei. Some of you probably don't remember the Syrian civil war thread there, but it was the staff who told Hamei to shut up and he didn't listen. I'm not making a value judgment here other than the fact that being an asshole on someone else's passion is not necessary. I'm well known for being opinionated, but if you've noticed I've done my best to limit my unsolicited bitching because I have to set an example for everybody here.

So his simple joke, which millions of people have made on the interwebs over many decades regarding anime, amounts to him being an asshole? I respectfully disagree.

In my humble opinion, we're lucky to have hamei back, his SGI technical contributions are very valuable. When on other topics he maybe tends to be over the top, and maybe I'm not easily offended, none of those have ever offended me.

Sure. I didn't reprimand anyone with a warning or any punishment because this is a minor thing. Hamei called me far worse before including a "gun-toting wingnut" and I did nothing myself about it. I'm not easily offended, but I am annoyed at unfunny comments in a serious thread. Especially edgy jokes that belong in 4chan or NeoGAF. So long as he behaves, there's no peep peep from me regarding his attitude.

Well okay then, fair enough. We've each made our positions known in plain language. I like hamei and consider him a personal friend, he's never said a mean word to me, but for topics that ring his bell, he's often straightforward regarding his opinion and some people find that troubling. I just don't happen to be one of those people. To each his own and let's all of us just keep traipsing forward... 😁
