I keep up with One Piece. That and what I can find on Netflix.
Lots of stuff on watchcartoononline.io no malware, just lots of trackers and ads.

RE: Current Anime
Just found out today that Murenase! Seton Gakuen is getting a series - premieres in three weeks. I've been crossing my fingers for this one for like two years now - I'm stoked.

RE: Current Anime
I do know those anime.

I'm currently watching Iron Blooded Orphans with Sope/Alex, the gentleman I was at VCF with. (The Asian guy who some mistook for me - I'm not Asian).

It's fantastic, but so is most of Sunrise's stuff.

Sunrise - I only know Vision of Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop - both brilliant.

RE: Current Anime
Just finished Escaflowne myself recently. That was damned solid, and a good companion piece to Magic Knight Rayearth in the "introspective isekai/magical-girl deconstruction that's also a really solid example thereof" genre.

Just watched the first episode - pretty damn good. They'd taking about the same approach the studio that adapted Jitsu wa Watashi wa... did and doing judicious rejiggering/compression of the storyline, to similarly positive effect - accentuating the manga's positives while compressing the timeframe enough that they're probably going to get a hell of a lot of the good stuff in this first season. Absolutely looking forward to the rest - fortunately, it looks like the next one should be up tomorrow Smile

Also awesome, and I'd almost forgotten it was getting a series: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. Where else can you watch a Japanese schoolgirl eat a dragon alive and not have it be part of some incomprehensible Internet fetish community, I ask you?

Both of these, for the record, were totally excellent, and it looks like the latter is getting a second season, so hells yes. Also watched recently: Creatures Family Days/Frankenstein Family, which was a bit shamelessly padded (each episode has 3-5 min. of cast features, which are cute but add up to an episode or two worth of screentime that could easily have been used for the actual show,) but thoroughly good nonetheless. Definitely recommended.

Another one I've been watching recently: Queen Millennia, from all-timer space-opera god Leiji Matsumoto. Like most late-'70s/early-'80s shows, it's campy as all get-out, and the protagonist looking like a juvenile Mr. Potato Head slightly undercuts some of its serious moments, but it's worth watching just for the hallucinatory UFOlogy grab-bag nature of the plot. You gotta admire a series that starts out with assassination plots, criminal Illuminati conspiracies, doomsday planets, and secret Jules Verne subterranean worlds with apocalypse shelters constructed by every major civilization going back to the Stone Age, and then gets weirder from there. Great stuff.
