RE: SGI Onyx 2 Deskside no screen
It's Netfreak's - he copied the Nekochan wiki. I myself have been remastering articles, correcting misinfo etc, but it's a slow process. That's a nice article though, I'll remaster it for IRIXNet's wiki.

RE: SGI Onyx 2 Deskside no screen
Ok I think I might know what his problem is, as I initially had the same problem with mine.
When I first got my Onyx2 it also didn't seem to output graphically, as it was outputting at a strange resolution that was not supported by my monitor, as a result I had a black screen.
Through a process of elimination, I tried to run the machine with only one Raster Manager installed, and as a result, it defaulted to a resolution of 1280x1024, which allowed the monitor to output.
There is a way to set it to run at 1280x1024 from the prom, I will just have to quickly look for it. (@janjaap suggested it to me.)
EDIT
Ok I found it, the command is: ireeprom (In the command monitor) This command will wipe and reinitialise the Infinite Reality graphics system.

RE: SGI Onyx 2 Deskside no screen
Irinikus has a good point. The Infinite Reality graphics engine stores the resolution and other parameters in non volatile memory. The syntax to erase the stored output resolution would be ireeprom -c.

Thank you for all your help, the Solution was a other Monitor, and it runs great now, only the inferno license has expired or maybe it’s just a tie Date issue ;-)

RE: SGI Onyx 2 Deskside no screen
I don’t know of it’s allowed to ask in this forum but what’s the time value of these maschines at the moment, I just saw some Octanes and O2 for around 1000$ on eBay. I‘m just wondering how much must be an Onyx2, mine is a new SGI Logo with 4x R12000 400mhz with IR2 and this big network card adapter on the back.
Thanks

RE: SGI Onyx 2 Deskside no screen
Hey Noleex,
Asking for appraisals is not allowed. We don't want price driving, especially not based on eBay pricing. Good rule of thumb - everything on eBay is marked up 50-75% usually unless it's a part or the seller is oblivious.
That being said, we can tell you what we historically paid for our machines. I have an Onyx2 in good shape with some minor damage to the skins (scratches mostly) that I paid $300 for, plus $250 in travel expenses to go down to Florida in 2019, which is over a thousand miles away each direction, to get it. It is now configured similarly to yours, but I had some parts already for free.
One thing to consider is the size/weight of these systems. You need someone with a vehicle big enough to move it, and the strength or the equipment to load it safely. Shipping is gonna be via freight, and ridiculously expensive. That's gonna hinder your ability to sell it if you charge a premium.
You can see now why we don't allow this - pricing varies greatly whether you're in the US, Europe or Asia, what time it was purchased, the demand in your area, where you bought it etc. It's impossible for any of us to account for this. Appraisals are thus not allowed - an item is ultimately worth what you, and your buyer agree on mutually. I always tell people - don't sell things with sentimental value.

Certainly. I hope that does give you a little idea of what you should do should you decide to sell it.
