Oooo, interestering. Other than the WebFORCE badge, your Indy looks just like mine. How peculiar.

This is what the badge is all about:

Hi Irinnikus, regarding file in blender format, it turns out that you may be able to export that Maya .mb file to an obj which then blender could import, more info here:

Thanks, I think I speak for all of us this is an awesome job and we'd love to see a widely available 3d model.

I'll take a look into it.

I'm taking a rest from my SGI machines for the moment. (Fallout 4 is largely to blame for this!!!)

So I will report back once I've looked into it.

Rather than Blender, I am pretty sure Wildfire can import obj files. I know for sure it can export them.

Having real numbers connected to digital models is a distinct advantage when you want to create a brick-and-mortar object Tongue

Wildfire can indeed import .OBJ and tons of other formats, but more limiting on Export : IGES, DXF and DWG are the main ones.

Here are the export options that Maya gives me and a .obj file is not one of them!

Thanks for the input!

I did it and now have it up in Blender on my Mac:

I cleaned it up a bit! I've never actually used Blender before, so it seems cumbersome when compared to Maya, but this is to be expected I suppose!

Very nice. It seems that it needs some skinning/texturing, but that should be rather easy. Awesome work. I wonder if it would still render on a blender on IRIX (it's probably a pretty old version). Would you be posting the blender file for download somewhere ?

I will make it available once I've tested it to see that it will print properly, so there may be a reasonably lengthy wait here (I will also have to optimise if for a proper 3D print, as I never designed it to be printed). It will also have to be hosted somewhere.

What I mean by optimise is to produce the structure forming the buttons, shielding, Webforce and SGI badges, as separate models to be assembled into and onto the main cover.

I still need to get a 3D printer, and I'm only prepared to buy a sintering type "Probably the LISA", as I'm unhappy with the output that the filament types produce, and I don't want to waste my time.

The entry price for the LISA is about $6000, so it will have to wait for now, as I have bigger priorities in the short to medium term.
