Not like an Octane but yes, they connect by being smushed together, so ja, compression connectors ...

It’s an FCI Meg-Array connector! Apple used them in the G4’s as well as the 🗑!

Thank you

Looks like this is going to be fun .... dual 800 processor board tho, should be worth some effort.

RE: Origin 300 No L1 comm!
Hello all, I got the serial number set and the system now boots up and seems good. except for reason of my replacing the TOD.

Here's the situation scenario:
I set the date & time in the L1 controller
Boot up normally into IRIX, and see a erroneous future date
Set IRIX it the correct time.
Perform Init 6, date & time still valid in IRIX.
Power down, disconnect power cord, reconnect power
Boot up, IRIX now has same erroneous date as before, L1 time is still valid

Anybody ever see this before. wondering if something is silently failing, as I'm not seeing any obvious error messages on console or syslog.

Well I've never dealt with big SGIs like this but many of them have multiple chips or batteries on different boards that all need to work to be in sync. The techpubs for Origin 300 make reference that "only qualified service personnel" should replace the lithium battery on the IO board. So perhaps there is a snaphat lithium or something on the "IO8 board", Just like the battery on a later IO9 boards in later machines? (guessing)

But the document for your system definitely (through warning-only) mentions a lithium battery on IO board. So I'd go with that...that battery (at least in later systems) keeps the current time for the system. The L1 controller has its own stuff (dallas IC battery, I guess).

Pretty sure you'll need need to change the battery on the IO8 that maintains the system time/date settings. It should be a yellow Snaphat Timekeeper  module. Can't the exact part number, but the similar component on the O350 IO9 is an M4T2B-BRSH1.

The O300 snaphat is an M4T28-BR12SH1.  I got mine from DigiKey for under $8 CAD.  So while they're not expensive, they're not something you'll find from any old battery supplier.  The good news is they only take a few seconds to replace.  They really do just "snap" into place as the name implies.

Perfect!, I have identified the battery on the IO8 and have a replacement on order. Thanks!
