Robert Pymble was a historical figure. Regan Russel was on Nekochan under both PymbleSoftware and regan_russel.

On topic: closest I could find about mating an O300 to an O350 was this: http://archive.irixnet.org/apocrypha/nek...032/2.html but it failed to make it to archive.org so it's lost. <<Sigh>>

RE: Origin 300 No L1 comm!
My update so far.  This will be a bit long sorry , Thanks for all of you help so far.

Current serial number post TOD replacement
serial
BSN: MRJ730    SSN: L0000000    Time: 06/17/2020 14:17:08

when i do a L1_reboot
reboot_l1

SGI SN1 L1 Controller
Firmware Image A: Rev. 1.18.3, Built 11/22/2002 10:24:40

log file seems to indicate it is repairing the serial number, but I guess its not able to due to not having a USB connection to L2?

06/17/20 14:17:42 Invalid SSN format.
06/17/20 14:17:42 SSN: L0000000
06/17/20 14:17:42 First character must be 'M'
06/17/20 14:18:50 Authenticator is invalid
06/17/20 14:20:02 Authenticator is invalid
06/17/20 14:26:37 L1 booting 1.18.3
06/17/20 14:26:39 ** fixing invalid SSN value
06/17/20 14:26:39 ** fixing invalid SSN value
06/17/20 14:26:39 USB0: waiting on open

when I try to change the serial number by giving it the suggested security strings from prior suggestion in this thread.

serial let the carnage begin
SerNum:Temporary Authenticator is invalid
system serial number has not been changed

So, I guess at this point I will change the Rack and slot settings of the O300, to make it a slave, and attach to a O350 via NUMAlink. I assume it will take on the serial number of the O350, and once it is in the correct format, it should boot up when separated for the O350?
it will take me a day or so to get back to it so standby.
Again thanks for the suggestion so far!

Assuming you have the power brick, why not buy an L2 unit. There is at least one cheap one on eBay right now?

This will come up again for your machines at a later date.

The command needs to be entered without the "serial" prefix. It should be entered into the L1 just as "let the carnage begin". After that, the serial can be updated with the "serial set" command.

Or snag a clunky old laptop, put Loonix on it and install the L3 software.

Yeah, I suggested the L2 unit because I couldn't make head or tails of this magic software being available anywhere. If someone could post it and the old linux distro that it needs to run, great! But I couldn't find anything useful online.

/SHIT/ That would be a good thing to host here.

If anyone has the L2/L3 emulator software, talk to me. We'll get it in the main FTP.

I recently got a free upgrade from our host, so I have a few extra gigs now.

Technical problems should be sent my way.

I have it, but currently in the throes of board-switching to get the darned O350 running again. If I ever succeed, can upload. (No, I don't have access to any Loonix computers to read the disk. I'm cleaning up around here, not adding more stuff.)

Does anyone know the proper name of the connectors on the cpu/memory boards ? One appears to be smushed.

I suppose you're talking about the compression connectors?
