Today I fired up my first SGI since I tested the IR4 in my Onyx2!!! (A good break is a good thing!)

Today I fired up my O2 for the first time in ages, just to see if it still works.

As you all should know by now that these things are rather shaky at the best of times. (Luckily it started without a hitch!)

Thanks man! It is rather cozy! (Quite different to my other setup, which is rather cold in comparison!)

RE: I Fired up one of my SGI's today!
I picked up another Indigo, and after cleaning it up (not too much to do on it), my old keyboard decided to not work, and I wanted to try a serial connection. I decided to fire up the O2 and try getting a terminal connection working from Irix 6.3. I also took the time to free up some disk space on the 4GB HDD by cleaning out the old accounts and files from the previous owner.

Unfortunately, I wasn't successful in getting a serial connection made to my *new* Indigo, nor did it work with my other Indigo either. I need to get a multimeter on my null cable to confirm its nullness. Otherwise, I'll have to get a USB-serial adapter, or fire up one of my big Dell XPS desktops (they're the only non-SGI systems I have with serial ports!).

As my new SGI room getting close to final spec, I decided to fire up my 4D/20 Turbo on Irix 3.3.2.

It's the same type of picture I made last time some years ago. Good news, everything is ok. Definitevely need more software to run on it...

Now it's time check all these lovely machine without any special smoke effect...

Interesting use of the linked racks, you kept them off the wall to reach the back of the systems?

See you've got a lot of books as well.

Thanks,

Yes it was the cheapest and practical way to not loose the center of a room. I have 90cm behind the rack so I have 3 Ikea Billy on the wall for books, cd, software etc .

Finally It make a corridor of 60cm behind all machine for quick cabling when you want to start one, every LCD have 13W3 converter, DVI.
