I fired up my Indigo2 today to figure out whether it is possible to use the system productively. I am a patent attorney, so I do not need a lot more than a word processor and a vector drawing software to cover 80% of my needs. WordPerfect 6 and Adobe Illustrator 5.5 could probably somehow work, but I have to say that it is quite painful. The good thing though is that there are less things that detract me from working on the Indigo2 compared to a modern PC/Mac.

WP6 and Illustrator 5.5 are good.
You can change that blue background color to something less glaring and more modern.

You are able to read and write from/to WP6 documents from modern Microsoft Word with a Word converter plugin, in case you need to share with others.

You could also try FrameMaker for your documentation.. and it should be more suited for your patent work (I always found FrameMaker a joy to use compared to anything else for technical documentation) and even Inkscape for vector graphics (a bit more modern than Illustrator 5.5, but note that Inkscape will require a lot of nekoware to be installed).

Thanks for the advice. I will give FrameMaker a try. I will likely need to use a modern PC anyway for online filing with smart card and some other tasks, so I might try to set up a work flow where I create the content, at least the text, on the Indigo2 and do some other tasks on the PC.
