I Fired up one of my SGI's today!

RE: I Fired up one of my SGI's today!
One or another of my SGIs are always on, but the computer that most amazes me is my firewall slash nameserver slash dhcpd daemon slash webserver, which has been up pretty much 24/7 since January 1997, currently running Slackware 14.2 and kernel 3.16.75; not a Slackware kernel, I never use Slackware kernels I've always compiled my own, since back when I first started using Linux that's pretty much all it could do; compile kernels... Tongue

If any of you have downloaded SGI applications from my website, that's the computer you've downloaded them from, an M-Tech R651 Pentium Pro 200 MHz dinosaur; link:

Project: Temporarily lost at sea
Plan: World domination! Or something...

That must surly cost you a small fortune! Smile

My Tezro's usually plugged in, with it's power supply energised, and this is simply because they didn't design it with a switch on the back to decouple its power supply from the power outlet without having to unplug it!

Today I managed to fire up my latest SGI: My "New" Indigo2 MAX IMPACT R10000 (It generates a ridiculous amount of heat for it's size!)

Today it was the O2's turn for a bit of action, as I haven't run this machine in quite some time!

I firstly fired up my Tezro and Indigo2 MAX IMPACT, to carry out an IRIX install on the IMPACT via network, as I can't seem get the CD-ROM up and running in that machine, as the machine sees it as being a hard drive instead of being a CD-ROM!

I lastly fired up the Indigo2 R4000 to check if the CD-ROM still worked in it, after I had messed around with it. which it did! Smile

RE: I Fired up one of my SGI's today!
This morning I've fired up my Tezro and Indigo2 MAX IMPACT, to install Maya 6.5 on the IMPACT, to make a video showing the IMPACT's performance in MAYA 6.5.

I will use my "Indy case" model for the demonstration!

Both machines running with a NFS setup between them:

Installing Maya 6.5 from Disk2 on the Tezro via a NFS:

Why is it, that whenever I have to use a Windows machine, I have to start off by reinstalling windows! (I need windows XP to create the license file for Maya 6.5!)

So Maya 6.5 is now up and running on the Indigo2 MAX IMPACT: (It's very slow, but sure!)

The Indy model successfully loaded into Maya 6.5 on the Indigo2 MAX IMPACT:

I don't think you need Windows for the license, I believe I have some medicine for irix floating around somewhere...
