Ah, I saw that before but I didn't process that that was supposed to be the pinout. A verbal description just gets lost in my head of trying to describe a pinout, I thought you were saying he actually had a real pinout diagram, hence the question. My mistake, yeah it tries to describe one using normal grammar....not my forte, pass.

Okay, I've started to solder this up. My idea of using stranded ethernet cable is not great. The wires are a little big (24 AWG) and the jacket melts easily.

Anyone have a recommendation for specific cable? Is there a better option than finding some 26awg ethernet cable?

A more succinct description, based on the pinout in the Hardware Developer's Handbook, is that each pin with "IN" in its name is wired to the corresponding pin with "IO" in the name, and each pin named "SEND" is wired to the corresponding "REC(eive)" pin. I still don't know what they are doing about power ground.

I've started soldering the cable up. I don't love the soldering tips I have for this fine-ish pitch work (~1mm). The problem is less so the pitch, but the plastic surrounding each pad and not knocking off wires I have already soldered.

Also pictured is the connector layout - if you flip one upside down, it "makes sense" and you just connect respective pins to each other, going down the line

It helps a lot for soldering little connections like this if you put a drop of flux on the connection point before soldering it.

I'm quite liberal with flux. I've pre-tinned the wire too. I have a couple more soldering tips on order, so I'll see if any of them work better.
