It's a way to utilize the graphics power of e.g. an Onyx to render and send the output to one (or more) remote workstations. It used to be a free download on the "cool software" pages of sgi.com. I have an older version archived somewhere. It almost certainly needs a license.

This is the package, I have downloaded from SGI in 2010, version 3.5.1, probably the same version, jan-jaap has. However, yes it does need a license.
