Latest purchase?
RE: Latest purchase?
Incredibly expensive for nearly 23 year old cards! If their technology was so great it really makes you wonder why 3dfx's creditors decided to tank them... 😒

3DFX's shareholders thought that it would be a good idea to purchase a board manufacturing company and start to manufacture their own cards. This action ended up by putting them into direct competition with their board partners (Creative, Diamond, Orchid, etc...), who in turn then started to drift way and preferably manufacture cards for their direct competition, namely NVidia!

That single poor business decision pretty much killed them!!!

Two of their founding members worked at SGI before starting the company!!!!

I've got a Diamond Viper running in my January 1997 Pentium Pro 200 combination webserver (from which a lot of you have downloaded some really nice SGI software), firewall, nameserver, and DHCPD server (so friends who come over can plug in their lappys and get an IP address on my LAN and Internet access). Can you do ANY of that on a 26 year old computer that's running Windows? Hrm, maybe. I don't know very much about Windows... 😄

I created these over a decade ago IIRC and they contain Slackware 12.x.

To all others: Sorry for hijacking this thread a little with Slackware propaganda, but someone has do it!  Tongue

I'm currently fixing up my newest vehicle project. It is a boring car, but I kinda wanted that. It's an antique at least.

1992. Feel old yet? In fact I'm getting a local YouTuber to Virginia to help me but I'm going to keep that all under wraps until after the car is done, I need to make new threads for my current vehicles at some point.

Yeah, do tell.

I have fixed up some old BMWs 91 e30 325ix, 96 Z3, 2003 e46 325ci, but was looking at just your run of the mill classic vw Beetle. pre 70s though with the smaller tail lights etc.
