Anyone notice newer TVs cause eye strain?

RE: Anyone notice newer TVs cause eye strain?
I guess I'm lucky that I've never owned or watched a TV.

Project: Temporarily lost at sea
Plan: World domination! Or something...

I'm convinced that it's definitely a niche population thing. Brand new $4,000 TV made me fucking feel like I was in a fucking rave

I'm also convinced that a lot of new TVs are set much too bright from the factory. If you look at a lot of TVs at retail stores I'd also say the same thing. The back lighting is too intense, that is someone's boosted it up much higher than it needs to be. That alone can cause real eye problems. I've found that when I've had to fiddle with people's TVs I expect to turn them down to at least 35% to 40% instead of the 75% or 80% they're set at (assuming new out of the box).

As I mentioned too if the person understands TV settings get them to switch it into game mode. That eliminates all fiddling with the signal because gamers demand that the signal they're looking at be what the console outputs without any change in the way the frames are displayed other than color correction. So if you ever find yourself in that situation again change the mode from movie/custom/theatre/whatever to "game" and then look at the brightness and turn it down to what seems reasonable. See if that doesn't correct the problem.
