I should have specified that was for my main computer. I tend to over look things like that. Oops.

DEC AlphaStation 500. It just arrived so I haven't had a chance to really pull it apart. It's dual-headed, with two Digital Powerstorm 3D30 graphics cards (not a bad card, but certainly not high-end), two 1GB HDDs, CD-ROM, and a full complement of RAM. Plastics aren't too bad, though it's missing the front door.

RE: Latest purchase?
I just got a few goodies yesterday.
First, a selection of random SGI accessories, pictured here:

and then also, a 1600SW (sorry, no picture), and then this lovely little O2+:

Sadly, the O2+ is non-operable. This was expected as it was bought knowing it doesn't power on. Unfortunately, it also seems to be cancerous as trying to swap pieces from my known-good O2 to try to determine which piece wasn't working led to something of my previously-good O2 to have been damaged, and now I have two non-booting O2s...

At least it looks pretty?

It surely looks pretty.

Always remove the power cord from an O2 before you pull any parts out. It cannot deal with hot-swapping the mainboard.

Hopefully it's just something simple like DIMMs that need a good cleaning.

RE: Latest purchase?
I always removed the power cord. And I doubt it's as simple as DIMMs sadly.
The machine won't come up (even with the jumper in place) - the PSU looks like it's trying to come to life when first plugged in but immediate drops down and only draws idle standby power of ~4watts. My current guess is the O2+'s logic board or frontplane have a short on them that damaged the previously good components when I tried swapping them in for diagnostic purposes, which then fried something in my other O2. Unlikely sounding given the PSUs look clean and no visible signs of damage on anything (burnt traces, pins, anything like that) but it's the best theory I have to go on right now... Unless anyone else is aware of reasons an O2 wouldn't power up, even with the power-on jumper in place (when it was functioning fine the day before).

Color Maximite 2. The old one was a tad too primitive for my tastes (leave CPU-driven video generation on the 2600 where it belongs, please!) but this looks like basically what I wanted out of the Raspberry Pi: an inexpensive, low-power computer that's aimed at being hackable (for certain definitions) out of the box, like old home computers but with modern connectivity. Only problem is there's no escape route from the built-in BASIC...fortunately you can flash it with some other firmware, so I just need to figure out how to kludge up a basic SD card bootloader.

Computers: Amiga 1200, DEC VAXStation 4000/60, DEC MicroPDP-11/73
Synthesizers: Roland JX-10/SH-09/MT-32/D-50, Yamaha DX7-II/V50/TX7/TG33/FB-01, Korg MS-20 Mini/ARP Odyssey/DW-8000/X5DR, Ensoniq SQ-80, E-mu Proteus/2, Nord Lead 2, Behringer Model D

I've always loved the TAM for it's obviously outdated look at what they thought the future would look like.
Cool little machines in their own right, definitely.
