Turning Windows 3.11 (DosBox) into a really cool retro setup
I'm trying to get Windows 3.11 up to a standard where it was, when I experienced it in the early 90's!

So far, I've got the sound up and running:

I've installed MicroSoft Office:

And Microsoft Encarta's next: (It's going to take forever to unzip using WinZip in Windows 3.11)

Encarta was the rage in the days before the internet!!!

After having to reinstall a few times, I've finally managed to install an S3 SVGA driver.

So now it has both a sound and video driver, so gaming in windows is now possible!!!! (And it's running @ 1280x1024!!!)

I've now also managed to mount the Tezro's CD-ROM in DosBox, allowing windows 3.11 to have access to CD's!!!

This was achieved by adding the following line to DosBox's autoexec.bat:

"mount d ~/CDROM -t cdrom -ioctl"

This has allowed me to install Microsoft Encarta 1994: (And run it properly off the CD, just like in the old days!!!)

It's amazing to see how limited things were at that time! (I remember looking at Encarta in complete wonder in the early 90's)

You are in a good shape to have your Tezro as your daily driver.
There's not much else you need in a computer.

The Tezro's definitely my favourite of the SGI's!

If you can find one at a good price, I'd definitely advise getting your hands on one! (It allows for a positively good IRIX experience, with little to no lag!)

I almost managed a few months ago.
Alas...

My Octane never lags, to be honest. I miss a digital display output, though. I find 1280x1024 quite restrictive. A V12 wouldn't be bad for some of the classics, either, but I can live without it.

It's seeing work, though, which is nice.

Windows 3.11 isn't complete without CorelDraw, so I've installed CorelDraw 5:
