Hello,

How can I run diagnostics for my V12 on my octane ? I especially would check graphics memory.

Run the runalldiags script from the command prompt, make sure there are no other programs running on the system when you do.

What does it mean when a process hangs?

Indigo2 IMPACT  : R10K-195MHz, 1GB RAM, 146GB 15K, CD-ROM, AudioDAT, MaxImpact w/ TRAM.  IRIX 6.5.22

O2 : R12K-400MHz, 1GB RAM, 300GB 15K, DVD-ROM, CRM Graphics, AV1/2 Media Boards & O2 Cam, DV-Link, FPA & SW1600.  IRIX 6.5.30

Well that's horrible, that's memory read and write, you need at the very least to rebuild your kernel, do you know how to do that? Also pull out and reset all your RAM, not a fun job I realize... 😔
