I thought the new mainboard came with some RAM. If not then, yeah.

Also are you using the PSU that came with the eBay purchase? That’s what I’d use if you’re not. Just to test.

Yes, I swapped out everything. That includes the power supply. I shall try disconnecting the OMD, pulling the hard drive, and removing the audio card. We shall see what habbens.

RE: O2 not booting
I HAS SUCCESS! My O2 now boots! Well, it only goes as far as the firmware.

Disk provided by Raion: DEADDISK (no spin)
System disk from ebay pile: DEADDISK (spins)
Data disk from ebay pile: UNKNOWN (spins)

I'm thinkering some form of conversion from this old-school SCSI to a meowdern SAS SSD would be a nice upgrade.

RE: O2 not booting
Good to hear you got something going, are you already using all the memory you got? Make sure you read the manual if you haven't stacked all the RAM in, they can have odd density ordering requirements.

Before you load Irix, if you have Irix media, I'd suggest racking it up RAM and executing diags on the Install CD to test out the system hardware and RAM.

I do not have any physical IRIX install media. Sadface. I can't burn it either, because none of my meowdern machines have any OM burners. It's also been like 10+ years since I last used cdrecord, so I'd have to relearn that. Oh, and the OMD in my O2 doesn't eject AND none of the tech stores around here carry recordable CDs.

I could take the 64MB from the system board Raion gave me, then I'd have 128MB total system memory.

RE: O2 not booting
If you can't burn cds, maybe you can try booterizer (n etwork boot+install).
Worked great for me.

RE: O2 not booting
I got everything working! My O2 now has 128MB memory. I had many problems with network installing, either FreeBSD's tftpd implementation doesn't like how the O2's firmware forms its request packets, or the TFTP client in the O2's firmware is braindamaged (I can't tell which).

In the end, I downloaded the booterizer raspi image and booted my raspi with that, then installed from it and everything was smooth sailing from there.

I have a fully workering O2. Now I need to take the OMD apart and fix it. The OMD emits a nasty noise when ejecting or injecting.
