RE: The Music Channel.
I've been listening to a bit of the Bee Gees lately and thought I would share this track (one of their best in my opinion), as it really takes be back to my childhood in the 80's!

This song was released the year I started school. (It take me right back to that time!)

RE: The Music Channel.
In recent years I have become tired of listening to streaming and MP3 as with these options I rarely experience albums as a whole. I feel with arbitrary access to single tracks the "hit tracks" stay in personal rotation and the "hidden gems" are lost.

Currently I am going back to vinyl because I just want to sit down in the evening and listen to an album. Although I am a "Metal Guy" for over 30 years now, my current favourite choices are more "radio friendly" (or were in the 1980s):

Chris Rea is a brilliant musician! (I have a few of his albums)

I will go to vinyl eventually, when I can afford a ClearAudio turntable, which won't be any time soon! (It is definitely planned for the future though)

The Meridian 808 Signature Reference CD Player will have to do for now!

I tend to concur, but it really depends. Some bands (particularly from the '60s - '80s) really put the effort into making an album a carefully-structured listening experience; others not so much. But it's definitely my preferred format. And yeah, YouTube/streaming services are terrible about greatest-hits syndrome, even more than radio.

That is indeed a beautiful piece of equipment.

Personally I think I can do with the higher end bread & butter / workhorse range. I'm thinking Technics SL1210 with some bronze-ish Ortofon stylus.

I am still running my old early 1990s Denon PMA amplifier with -currently- useless Onkyo Tape and all that stuff that was precious to me when I bought my first full stereo back in 1992 (or so). None of this is anything special, but it does actually sound quite good... to my Metalhead ears. ;-)

There's no right or wrong when it comes to hifi!

The most important thing is that your system must sound good to you, if you're completely content with what you hear, thats perfect. Smile

My unfortunate affliction in life is that I don't like compromise at all, and that usually ends up by costing me! :( (I am patient though and build things up incrementally!)

Fore those of you who are into uplifting vocal trance, this is one of the best mixes I've sampled in quite a while:

I can relate to that. Currently I am still "investing" in my electric guitar collection, effects and amplifiers. It's insane but also fun and rewarding.

We're in the music channel, so here is something else to listen to. Amorphis is one of my alltime favourite bands. They have come from terrible death metal, sounded like HIM in the late 1990s but finally found their own style. Here is an acoustic version one of their earlier songs:

Love me some Chris Rea, recently picked up this album on CD from our local charity shop, like new. Sounds goods on my little system. The lyrics to most songs are very relevant to today.

No longer active. Please do not contact me.
