My dad worked for UPS for a couple of years, and had a horrible experience. Sixty and seventy hour work weeks were mandatory, I don't know if it's like that anymore, probably not, but he hated it.

Project: Temporarily lost at sea
Plan: World domination! Or something...

My brother is working for UPS. 40 hour work week, he's a package handler and loads two trucks by himself. At 21 years old he's making more money than I did, even adjusting for inflation, than I did in my first 5 years of IT work.

His coworkers like him and he is getting high marks at the job.

RE: A year of being a tradesman
I'm currently starting a new job as an automotive technician. I've previously worked as one, and while I'm not particularly a huge fan of every aspect of the trade, it's adjacent enough to locksmithing I'm starting to wake up and be me again. From Feb->July I worked a stopgap deadend job for a large corporation. Hated every minute of it. My back hurts from walking on concrete floors, the depths of what stupid things the public is capable of saying astound me, and the among of petty bullshit I saw in that workplace was enough for me to go "yeah I can see why people want to be paid more for this stuff".

I should have more $ around soon, so I can finish some projects I've been back burnering, and also get my Nekoware project finished.
