RE: SGI Freeware????
I've got XV, plus all of this nekoware, besides the games that also form part of nekoware: (I suppose I don't need it then!)

I also have this selection of freeware:

I would still like to resolve these issues though! (Is there anyone with the relevant experience here?)

The encircled entries are as a result of the freeware installation and are not normal during the boot of this system, so I'd like to resolve them if at all possible, as I certainly don't want to have to carry out a new IRIX install here to sort this mess out!

I'm taking a wild guess here, but the config file pointing to password and cert files smacks of SSL to me? Did you install any ssl goodies as part of the freeware....I'd start by uninstalling them.

My octane is in the lounge but I don't have time tonight to dig deeper...:/

Are you ok with tar files? I uploaded the complete May 2004 Freeware CDs for you to download.

CD-1 is at https://gofile.io/?c=Wduumi

The rest (CD-2, CD-3, CD-4, Sources) at: https://transfernow.net/ddl/IRIX_Freeware_May_2004

Hope this alleviates your download Problem.

OTOH, regarding your Startup Problems:

I would suggest looking for config.tcl using the showfiles command as follows:

bash-2.05$ showfiles | grep config.tcl

This gives you the Name of the installed product.image.subsystem who installed config.tcl. Then uninstall, reconfigure or whatever the product to solve this issue.

Thanks very much for the help! I really appreciate it! Smile

I managed to get rid of the config.tcl problem by uninstalling aol:

This is the source of the other problem:

I downloaded the tar files! Thanks very much! Smile

RE: SGI Freeware????
The newer versions are the latest release, but I did find that there was a dependancy required by AbiWord, which wasn't found on the latest set of CD's, but because of the install I had carried out on my tezro, using multiple sets of CD's it was present and I simply copied it to my other machines.

As far as I can remember, the highlighted library file in this image, is the file in question:
