I have the installation media, but unless you can convince HPE to issue you a license there's no (legal) way to solve this.

Would it not run in demo mode if you install from your installation media without a license?

Which version/s and platform/s is your installation media for? 64/32-bit Linux, Windows, IRIX?

I am particularly interested in 64-bit Linux/Windows if you have the installation media for that?

I am interested in using Performer in demo mode which displays the logo on the views - this is wanted so it can be used to actively promote Performer and maybe help convince HPE/SGI to re-open the project and get it modernised ...

I managed to find an old HDD with OpenGL Performer 3.2.2 32-bit Windows "installed", but no installer. From what I can tell, other than having to set a couple of environment vars, one should be able to just take a copy of \Program Files\Silicon Graphics\Performer and start using it because it came with a demo license, which I am quite certain was provided in all freely downloadable versions from SGI...?

I was wondering if by chance you may have a copy of the 32-bit Linux installation media version?

Hmmm, I thought Performer was one of the many projects SGI open-sourced prior to their end, but looking around just now and it seems that is not the case...

I like the Performer API and what it provided and I think that if it were re-written to take advantage of what OpenGL has on offer today, I think it would be quite promising.

Earlier this week, I enquired with HPE about seeing if the product name of IRIS (OpenGL) Performer could be obtained to which the reply was that HPE SGI no longer exists - does this mean that Silicon Graphics is 100% gone forever??

I am starting an open-source project to re-write and re-implement Performer exact to its specifications with modernisation done where required.

I think SGI still exists in the sense that HPE still sells licenses to other organizations that might otherwise be violating an SGI patent. So you're talking about writing code that completely reimplements, from scratch, the Performer API? Bold, but I fear you may end up sailing that ship entirely by yourself... 😛

It's a nice idea but you're going to be flying blind. HPE has not maintained any patents/trademarks from SGI so you shouldn't have an issue as long as your code is clean. It's not likely I'll be much help.

Before I embark on this challenge, does anyone by chance happen to know any of the original engineering team authors of IRIS/OpenGL Performer and if they may happen to know where the source code to Performer may be residing today?
