Re: £30 8 CPU Origin 2000 only worth £22.50 lets add an Oynx 2
I did record this lot before I moved the machine away.

Is the below common? I've never heard mention of ArmLand before?

Code:
IR0: ARM: Welcome to ARMLand - 0/0x0d00
IR0: ARM: running...(sherwood-root 0201080038)
IR0: ARM: **
IR0: ARM: * InfiniteReality/Reality Software, IRIX 6.5 release *
IR0: ARM: **
IRIS console login: IR0: GE0: Welcome to GELand!
IR0: GE1: Welcome to GELand!

I will get round to posting my hinv's nut in the meantime, here's a quick snap shot. There is some memory disabled.

It also came with spare some cards/boards.

Code:
4 300 MHZ IP27 Processors
CPU: MIPS R12000 Processor Chip Revision: 2.3
FPU: MIPS R12010 Floating Point Chip Revision: 2.3
Main memory size: 3328 Mbytes
Instruction cache size: 32 Kbytes
Data cache size: 32 Kbytes
Secondary unified instruction/data cache size: 8 Mbytes
Integral SCSI controller 0: Version QL1040B (rev. 2), single ended
Disk drive: unit 1 on SCSI controller 0
Disk drive: unit 2 on SCSI controller 0

IOC3 serial port: tty1
IOC3 serial port: tty2
IOC3 serial port: tty3
IOC3 serial port: tty4
IOC3 parallel port: plp1
Graphics board: Reality
Integral Fast Ethernet: ef0, version 1, module 1, slot io1, pci 2
Iris Audio Processor: version RAD revision 7.0, number 1
Origin BASEIO board, module 1 slot 1: Revision 4

That's all normal. Recondas @ Nekochan even used it as a signature for a while. It probably refers to the ARM cores that implement the GE. You've got the version with 2GEs, otherwise you'd get similar messages from GE2 and GE3.

Thanks Jan-Jaap.

Is that good BTW? I know little about these.

I notice these have two keyboard/Mouse PS/2 ports and two 13w3 card, so in theory, is this design to allow two people to share a single machine?

As far as Onyx2 IR goes, it's the entry level ... see <URL url="http://archive.irix.cc/sgistuff/hardware/graphics/infinitereality.html"><LINK_TEXT text="http://archive.irix.cc/sgistuff/hardwar ... ality.html">http://archive.irix.cc/sgistuff/hardware/graphics/infinitereality.html</LINK_TEXT>

I think so, more or less like a CADduo Octane, but I never tried.

Those are RM9-64 modules.

With a GE16-4 and dual RM9 you've got IR2E which isn't half bad.

Ah that's good.. mind you, I didn't pay a lot so all a bonus, plus as yet, unsure what I will be using it for. It would interesting to combine it with the o2000 via the routers that HAL told me about. That's for another day though, the o2000 certainly needs a new set of skins to be seen in public.

Had the feeling that would come up. Forget it, it's is <B>not </B>possible to combine an Onyx2 deskside and an O2000 into a single image. There's only one router slot in an Onyx2 deskside, where the O2000 has two. If you were to numalink two O2000 desksides together, you'd use both routers on each system. The Onyx2 is a NUMAlink port short, and the result is not a valid hypercube topology so it will not work.

IIRC, architecturally in an Onyx2 deskside the IR graphics occupies one NUMAlink port on the backplane crossbar, but in the Onyx2 rack the graphics are connected via XIO using the K-Town/X-Town cards. There used to be a 10 page thread in the Nekochan archives <sigh> and believe me people tried everything.

Similarly, nobody ever succeeded in linking an O2000 and an O200 in a single image.
