Latest purchase?
RE: Latest purchase?
I dislike sports games, so I've asked the seller to swap these games for: Sonic 2 and RoadRash

Again, I really dislike sports games, so I've asked the seller to swap these games out for: Destruction Derby, Virtua Fighter 2, Wipeout and Die Hard Trilogy

I will have to clean the marker off this one, but otherwise, it looks perfect.

RE: Latest purchase?
My latest purchase is only loosely computer related:

(I have the black version, btw)

A Cambridge Audio Azur 851N network player / internet radio / DAC. With the demise of FM radio I was looking for something that can do internet radio. I've experimented with e.g. Raspberry Pi based streamers and internet radios and I'm sorry but it takes more time to find phone/wake up streamer/navigate UI/select new radio station than it takes me to have breakfast. I want something that operates like a HiFi component and integrates nicely with my existing audio equipment.

This will replace the Cambridge DacMagic+ I've had for several years. Only time will tell how much of the rest of my stereo equipment it will replace. I still have a Rotel RC-995 pre-amplifier and a Rotel RCD-991 CD player. So far, I prefer the DACs in the CD player over the DacMagic+, well see how the 851N stacks up. If I "downgrade" the CD player to a mere digital source and use the 851N as a digital pre-amp/DAC, I may as well eliminate the RC-995 pre-amp because I will have no analogue sources left. Or I keep things the way they are, and simply use the 851N as a new, digital source. In either case, I keep the Rotel RB-991 power amp. I love that beast Smile

I'm already looking forward to many hours of my favorite music

Very nice! Smile

You may still want to keep your pre-amplifier, as my CD Player has outputs that can be set as variable or fixed, and it definitely sounds better playing through a pre-amplifier.

Nice! I have a Cambridge Audio Azur 550A as the main amp in my man-cave (everything runs via it). Been very happy with the quality of it since I got it about 9 years back.

I'm in the process of buying this:

I will need to obtain TRAMS for the Max Impact card at a later stage, as they'll probably cost as much has the machine is costing me!

For now, I can't tell whether the ethernet card is the full-length Phobos card or not.

Jealous! An Indigo2 is my favourite and so far unobtained sgi.

It's definitely one of the most beautiful and interesting of the SGI machines in my opinion, and I've wanted one of these things ever since I first saw a picture of one!

I just couldn't let this opportunity pass me by!

*Working* Indigo2 TRAMs are not something you find everyday.

It might indeed be the Phobos card, this is what my own system looks like from behind, just different order of cards.

Thanks!

I'll probably have to go to Ian or Mashek in the future for the TRAMs!

This is what Ian sells them for: TRAM module for High/MaxIMPACT: 250 UKP (SGI PN 030-0676-003. NOTE: MaxIMPACT needs two TRAM modules)

RE: Latest purchase?
It is not the Phobos G160 card I'm afraid.

If it was a Phobos G160 and Max IMPACT, the Phobos card has to be the top card. Otherwise, you are using two adjacent GIO64 slots and that isn't permitted.
