RE: AUTODESK FLAME 2008 SERVICE PACK 6
I think I see the problem.  The screenshot shows the system looking in /usr/lib64 and other "lib64" directories, which means the program requires a 64-bit version of the library.  The Nekoware package only has an N32 library, not a 64-bit one.

My Octane has a 64-bit version of libz.so in /usr/lib64 which means it came from the base IRIX installation (although the 64-bit portion may have been optional at installation time).  There's another in /usr/freeware/lib64 which is somewhat newer but not in a path that will be searched by default.

My recommendation is to remove the Nekoware zlib package since it won't help in this situation.  Then either install the 64-bit library to /usr/lib64 from the IRIX installation media, or install the freeware package and set LD_LIBRARY64_PATH to point to it.

You can see all your environment variables via the printenv command.

I have to reluctantly conclude that your IRIX installation is dorked, the libraries you are receiving complaints about are standard system libraries that in a normal installation are all located in one or another of the system's default library search paths. Or, perhaps more to the point, in a normal IRIX installation the  error messages you're receiving would never occur.

Thanks to your advice, I reinstalled irix as per the Autodesk manual, and now I have solved everything. Now I have to finish with the licenses and the frame store, but I think the worst is over. In the meantime, thank you for all your advice.

Do you mind if I ask you how you came by your Autodesk license(s)? Because if you call Autodesk today and ask them to sell you Irix licenses for any of their products, they won't do it. In fact I highly doubt if any of their current batch of sales reps have ever even heard of Irix.

Hello, I still haven't tried anything about licenses, but I hope that something can be found on the net. Someone here has a perfectly functioning flame, so something can be done

Thing about it is, FlexLM ties licenses to individual workstations. Any one license is only useful on the workstation it was generated for. So copying the license to another workstation accomplishes nothing. Which is why people don't talk about licenses so much as they talk about license generators. The generator will, or at least is supposed to, run on any workstation, and generate a working license for that workstation. So if you've got a ton of workstations that need licenses, it amounts to a lot of work moving the license generator from one machine to the next. Which is why license servers are typically used at the enterprise level, like for example where I work we have hundreds of workstations running Wildfire, and every time Wildfire is launched on a workstation, the first thing it does is acquire a new license from the server.
