Indy front buttons
Hello, are there any 3D models of the Indy power and volume buttons available? I couldn't find anything and would like to 3D print them. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately none to my knowledge. If your case is missing them, you can always push directly on the switches, but yeah, someone would have to model that for you.

Oh, ok. I can design them myself but i'd be glad if someone measured the whole black plastic part for me - or just took some photos. I'll post the stl afterwards.

I don't have access to my Indys at the moment. Hopefully Weblacky or someone else can post detailed dimensions.

I can look into it as long as the plastic isn't welded to the skin (that is I'd have to break a plastic weld to remove it). I should just be able to use a flatbed scanner to get both sides and place a dollar bill or something for comparison. However that won't give you any depth measurements...and my iPhone's fake LIDAR feature it's that accurate :-)

Let me see what I can do, if anything.

That'd be great! From what I have seen, it should be easily removable, there are two brackets holding it in place.

okay sorry for the delay I don't have a good CAD program and not the same stuff I got training on so....it's going to rough.

overall dimensions: 27.36mm x 107.92mm

notch to notch (side, inner wall of notch to inner wall of nearby notch) is 10.87mm
outer notch inner wall edge to outer edge of panel is 5.81 mm (symmetrical, both notch same distance for their edge outer edges).

volume button height from base of spring board is 5.60mm
power button 4.93mm from springboard

Volume buttons springboard width 11.11 mm
Volume buttons springboard opening width in body is 13.07 mm

Volume button (nearest edge, up button), panel cut out height is 20.61 mm
Second volume button (smaller, down), panel cut out height 17.83 mm

Power button springboard opening in body 10.04 mm (short dim)
Power button springboard width 7.52 mm

Due to limitations of my digital calipers I am estimating 2 mm for the height of the reset button offspring board surface

LED hole in panel next to power button 6.25 mm in diameter

Total panel thickness including ribs is 3.06 mm
Relief cuts in back of panel not for buttons is 1 mm

Rear panel distance between rear surface and rear of volume springboard is 1.55 mm
Power button springboard rear from rear of panel, relief, 1.67 mm

I'll add more dims when I can find the time. Hopefully that's enough to get a mock up going.

Thanks for your help, the first design is finished but honestly my CAD skills aren't great either. I'll have to print it and then test if it fits.

RE: Indy front buttons
So I've managed to fit the buttons after some polishing. They're fully functional but the design definitely needs some fine tuning. I'll update it in the future and post a new version.

RE: Indy front buttons
I’ve had Indy stations for a long time but never bothered looking at the button panel part before. When I finally did for this thread, I was pretty taken aback by all the complexity in the rear of the part.

It’s very hard to convey without a series of drawings and perspectives. It also makes simple, at home, casting/molding more difficult due to both sides having reliefs and protrusions in the design.

I’m glad you were able to even create something functional from that info!
