If anyone wants the original SimCity for Unix (SunOS, Solaris, IRIX) it's available from archive.org:

It will only run for 5 minutes in "demo mode" without a license, but it's kind of neat to see the original too.

There's actually a version of SimCity for IRIX floating around.  It needed something ridiculous like a FlexLM license or something and I never messed with it any further.

Actually, it uses ÉlanLM. And I believe it's a COFF binary so unless you've got a system running IRIX 5.3 or older it's not going to work.

I've installed "rare SimCity" yesterday.. so cool! pure nostalgia!

I tried it today, even though I knew it was not going to work, in my Octane.

It's that old, really.

The license is not FLEXlm, but Élan License Manager. I think I can deal with that (AutoCAD on IRIX uses it too), I'll give it a shot sometime.

COFF binaries are not compatible with IRIX versions post 5.3 -- IRIX used COFF because ELF didn't exist back then.
