before that :i tryied to add 6.5.3 overlays via software manager and my system didn't come up anymore :(
so i thought: lets make a new install... but i couldn't get dina nor irixify to work (i now know : it was windows-network stuff)
anyway, i was forced to look for another way and found the (google:irix net install vagrant)-method. which works way better that all the 
other stuff i was trying/using before. just wanted to share my experience

now there's only one problem left. i want to install octane demos 1.3 but this needs the original package which was till 6.5.10 shipped with the apps-cds. but i can't find any applications cd which is that version. only june which is 6.22 i think. how can i install the octane demos??? :(

I had no success in running booterizer via VM on a Macintosh, will definitely try this alternative : )

Boterizer is easy to use at least on the Raspberry Pi edition write the image and is almost ready to rock, it will work even on the Pi 1.
The vagrant install is a pain.

Why don’t you just use Reanimator? That’s by far the easiest way - without any installations. You only need to to do some network configurations prior to use.

I am someone who never used IRIX or any other form of UNIX before recently, Reanimator made it easy for me to install IRIX on my Octane 2. I no longer fear a blank hard drive.
