Indy will not power on

Indy will not power on
Hi , been a lurker for awhile but never really post anything. I acquired an Indy yesterday with the caveat of it not booting.  When I plug it in and attempt power on the led flickers red and I hear clicking from the PSU. Seems pretty apparent to me the PSU is dead ( wall oulet and cable power other machines without issue ) before I went down the expensive route of sourcing an Indy lower supply I thought I would ask other Indy owners their thoughts and any issues I should be aware with PSU swapping.

Obviously ensure everything is plugged in internally, but I would leave it plugged into the mains and attempt to fire it up every few hours.. What make of PSU is it?

It could be the mainboard itself that has blown a capacitor. Check the image from Gearhard Lenerz' website, archived here

If you take a look at the photo and check out the three yellow capacitors (c15 c16 c17) in a row, just left of the leftmost red component, you see that C16 looks funny. That capacitor sometimes blows up and leaves magic smoke.

Make sure you have a look at your mainboard on that spot.

Thanks all , I took it apart over the weekend and did not see any apparent mobile damage or blown caps. It has the Nidec power supply in it , and I guess was running 24/7 at one point ( it was a firewall for an animation studio) attempting to source a new PSU for it.

I wanted to close this out for anyone else to reference in the future. The issue was indeed a dead power supply. I purchased a Sony supply and it booted right up.

Keep all of your old PSUs.

it's also noted that Sony PSUs are **not** immune to failure. They can blow mosfets and other components still.
