Several years ago I posted a recipe to build your own IRIX installation DVDs to Nekochan. That was a proof of concept using IRIX 6.2. I used 6.2 because it's smaller and I wanted to make sure I used something that was completely ignorant of DVDs yet still worked. But there's no reason why it wouldn't work for 6.5

Just imagine a 1-disc installation of IRIX + patches

To boot an IRIX system from a DVD, you need a DVD drive that can be set to 512 bytes/block iirc. That Pioneer worked perfectly.

It could be, there are eoe packages (execution environment) packages on just about all the installation CDs.

Are you installing the August 2006 Application CD and August 2006 Complementary CD packages?

Will link you to a directory and file list dump of my 6.5.30 media, check some random file sizes to see if you have the same.

Capps is probably it. I cant find it on the ftp, but can as an iso. Can I rip the data from a disk on irix?

nope, efs images can't be mounted in IRIX
