RE: Damaged O2
Thanks guys, much appreciated! The two long gracks located on the long sides of the case ended up really well and you really need to look for them now to notice them. I expect to receive the epoxy putty on monday, having worked with it in the past I am confident I can fill and smooth the long crack at the top cover seen in the pictures below, and fix the jagged edges of the cover as well. I will not be perfect, but it will do. I had to 'fabricate' some parts with a mixture of adhesive epoxy and nylon mesh in one of the lower corners so as to secure two parts which were too weak, I plan to cover them with putty as well as its color is fairly similar to the case. Will upload some pictures on monday when all is said and done.

Cheers. It is hard to see from outside but the interior has a good number of patches. The suggested mesh and epoxy solution worked really well, and the repaired areas are surprisingly solid. It is all cleaned up now but there were a few more areas like this, specially in the base frame which is located under the computer.

RE: Damaged O2
That is a really good repair job, very well done and good on you for sticking it out and attempting it in the first place.

I recently bought some porcelain putty to repair my mother in laws walking stick handle, you can get some amazing repair epoxies and putties these days.

I used mesh and epoxy to repair some bits on my classic Vespa scooter, it's really strong and is still holding up after 7 years.

The only thing is, be careful as the repaired sections are now probably stronger than the original plastics! Smile Look forward to seeing the end result.

RE: Damaged O2
I also bought an O2 a few weeks ago that arrived today.
The box looked quite battered and I had a sneaking suspicion that was later confirmed when i opened the box and lifted the contents out.
When I started opening the bubble wrap it was literally like ripping a bag of corn flakes in half... Damn it.
The plastic shell is completely pulverized and the whole computer is just the naked steel chassis.
To make matters worse the front looks like it have been bashed in, two buttons are bent, so is the connector to the speaker and there is several huge dents all around.

I tried to hook it up to see if it was still working. It did not.
The PSU fan power up and both the red and green LEDs were blinking simultainously. I then took it apart and re-seated everything that can be removed, when I connected the power again it was completly dead, no lights no noise, nothing...

I am so sorry you went through that. Is the seller by any chance located in Tucson, Arizona? I can see the exact same red bubble wrap that my guy used in my shipment, and I know for a fact that they sold two other O2s about two-three weeks ago as well. They did not give a shit about packing mine. If they are the same guys I would bet eBay will not hesitate to refund you in full. Please do keep a good picture record of the unboxing and file a claim.

If you get to keep it, do not despair, the plastic skin can be fixed. If you might be willing to give it a try I would be happy to give a hand.

I cannot comment on the status of operation with that information, but I would bet others would chime in and help troubleshooting it.

Thanks for your comments and the suggestion to proceed with that solution, they are indeed impressive products. The adhesive I chose started setting a bit too soon for my liking so I had to be quick specially when shaping mesh to fill gaps and so on. Still, I am really happy with the outcome. You are right, by the way, the repaired areas do seem much sturdier than the surrounding parts.

:( Sorry to hear that, not good.

Blinking red and green (to make amber) is a memory diagnostic error. Plug everything out, clean contacts and re-assemble. You may have damaged connectors / pins so check these as well. I would pull the whole unit apart and check the frontplane as well.

Also try and boot with the Power-On jumper set.

RE: Damaged O2
mamorim: Yes, the guy is located in Tuscon Arizona. Just bublewrap and nothing else as padding in the box. Even the keyboard has a shattered key...

I am working with the power-jumper as i write. I am lazy and don't want to disassemble the computer to install/remove the jumper (I'm suspecting it will be nececary to do this later on as well) so I'm installing a wire going out the back of the computer so i can "jump" it without removing anything but the power plug.

EDIT: It powered on with the jumper, and later without it. Still blinking "amber" though. Looks like a project for tomorrow, it's getting late here in northern Europe hehe
BTW, in one of the pictures i posted you can see that there is a small resistor (at least i think it's a resistor) that's soldered onto one of the chips with some blue wires. It also looks like one of those pins has been de-soldered from the board. Does any of yours have this?
