Non linear video editing applications

Non linear video editing applications
WhAt would be the best LN video editing application for an Octane equiped with the personal video option and Miranda divo adapter?

Don’t pan on doing HD, instead capturing CCIR 601 ntsc.

RE: Non linear video editing applications
I'm not really sure what non-linear really means, but for video editing your choices are smoke/flame, avid media Illusion, softimage eddie, Jaleo, Alias Composer, adobe premier, shake. Maybe a few more that I'm not aware of.

I too have an Octane MXE with PVO, never really tried to capture any video with it - I hope its much better than an o2. I assume your going to have to have a 2 disk raid on two SCSI channels, your going to need something like +40MB/sec write (I forget exactly, its been a bunch of years)

RE: Non linear video editing applications
I have an Octane running a similar setup hardware wise (although lots more hanging off it) and for that machine I use the older versions of Smoke/Flame.

The machine has EMXI & DV

Smoke 7.0.14
Flame 9.5.14

The later versions 2007/2008 cannot be licenced for impact graphics that I know of.

This is the Oldest Octane I have and I posted a youtube video on it.

RE: Non linear video editing applications
You need licenses for octmx features. Here you have keys from my DL_license.dat

Code:
FEATURE flame_octmx_r_2008 discreet_l 2008.999 1-jan-0 0 \
    AD75C67F22E22ABD598C HOSTID=690e0a0f ck=123
FEATURE smoke_octmx_r_2008 discreet_l 2008.999 1-jan-0 0 \
    BD55B61FADA6033A056F HOSTID=690e0a0f ck=23
It enables flame 2008sp6 and smoke 2008sp6 on my Octane with MXE and dual 300MHz R12000.

Excellent chap, I will try that tomorrow. I will be both annoyed and rather chuffed as I was seriously under the impression such a licence did not exist, but so happy I can move to 2008 on that machine.

That though depends on if 2008 runs on 1280x1024 as I have the GDM connected to this machine.

Do you by any chance have IR3 for Inferno 2008 also?

Thanks Waldemar.

uffa 1280x1024, im gonna guess it will run but your gonna have to use hotkeys, especially to quit

Load up Inferno2008 on the IR3, do a

Code:
setenv FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS 2

it will tell you want feature name you will need to license

RE: Non linear video editing applications
No I don't have any ready to use templates of licenses for Inferno 2008. I searched for needed features on my Octane using setenv FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS 2 and then generated license using keygen. So try it yourself. I was never interested in Inferno because I only own Octane MXE and O2. Onyx stuff was always my dream... and only dream.

I would like to try either flame or smoke, but im not sure if it will work with the PVO. I do have a Media' 250gig (4 drive) video raid. not sure what the data rate is , but these were sold for doing RT video work.
