@Irinikus: beauty.

@weblacky: Honestly, I've been finding modern computing so boring that the only way to go is the old stuff. At my day job, over the course of 16 years, I went from writing quite complex operations code (that stayed up and running for years without fault) to long discussions on whether or not to push a button on a web interface provided by a thoroughly incompetent vendor. It's just too sad.

Plus I find out that the knowledge acquired tinkering with old stuff makes me so much better at understanding how we got to where we are now that, in general, I'm usually the most knowledgeable in any discussion.

People propose "one click to automagically do someting" and my brain goes LDAP + federation with a vendor, vendor doesn't do data encryption at rest or in transit, scope of access too broad, need to look at their data retention policies, do they do disaster recovery exercises...

My Cosmo Communicator arrived today.

I loved the Nokia Communicators back in the day, and always missed a proper keyboard.

As I'm trying to get rid of any dependencies on the big tech giants, I think it will be a nice device to have (plus I hate on-screen keyboards).
I will keep a small rooted de-googled android partition for buying transport tickets and carrying my covid pass and use the other partition for other things, Linux or else. =)

TotalPhase Cable Tester, from work.
I'd never spend this amount of money on my own for such thing but, for free, it's just too much fun.

We are gong to certify accessories for video conference rooms with it.

Now I just need to buy an excellent example of a ZX Spectrum "Toast Rack" to plug it into!

In the future I may get another one, probably an LP1 stage from a Harrier Jump Jet and turn it into a ceiling fan in my bedroom! That should surely cool things down a bit! Smile
