Can anyone confirm this tablet is compatible with irix?  I have success with intuos 2 but this is a 12x12 tablet.

Thanks Vishnu, the thread at least suggests the tablet is compatible on older versions of irix. I would be using th u1212 with an octane running 6.5.28. I just can’t find anywhere that confirms what Wacom models are compatible with the sgi drivers.

Supposedly one of these drivers supports wacom on IRIX 6.5.x, not sure if it supports yours though, but could be worth a try:

Well, I have to assume the u1212r is compatible since the ad photos for the octane 2 systems running discreet flame, flint etc feature a u1212r or u1218r in their photos.

I think on the AD photos of the Octane systems mostly were later generation Intuos tablets (GD-0912-R and GD1212-R).
The UD series is older, but might work with the latest wacom drivers.

Your correct, my bad, the ad photo was for an O2 that is using a U1212r.  You can tell by the shape and green portion on the tablet top overlay buttons.

Oh, this is a different Discreet AD than I remembered...
I remembered only the Intuos, because we used them with all of our o2 and Octane Discreet systems to a point.
We used the Ultrapads with Indigo and Indigo2 workstations.
Our Smoke HD arrived with a linux based IBM workstation and with Intuos2.

On the ADs, there are sometimes Ultrapad, sometimes Intuos models, it depends how old the AD is. 
Perhaps the ADs with the Ultrapads were early developer setups, because from 1998 all systems were shipped with Intuos tablets. (We used several Flame, Flint, Smoke systems)

But:
If I remember correctly, all of the Discreet systems had integrated tablet support. You did not need to be installed separately the wacom drivers.
So the Discreet system AD photos are not the best examples to determine if there is Ultrapad support on a specific machine on a specific IRIX version.
My guess is, with the latest wacom driver, all of the Ultrapad and Intuos tablets probably will work under IRIX 6.5.22 and up.

Very interesting, I never heard of the ultra pad… will have to look that one up. I have been using an intuos2 small tablet, but finding a larger one in serial is difficult.

The Ultrapad brand name was only used in Europe; in the rest of the world it was called the ArtZ II. The model numbers for both were UD-xxxx.
