Scammers
Always fun.
I got a call and was informed that my Microsoft computer is sending data stating that I have issues.

I kept the guy on the phone until he instructed me to download the remote connection app and I waited until he tried to connect, to fetch his IP from the logs, all while I pretended I was very stupid.

Then I told him his IP, where he is from and quick nmap pointed that he has Windows 7 (and runs a PPTP server!), then I hang up the phone.

He called 5 more times, each call came from a different number. Now his IP is offline. I will now post a letter to his provider just for fun. =)

RE: Scammers
that's funny. I only heard from these things, but never actually met someone, who really talk to a real person. I suspected that this only works with old people. Like when some grandma is called by a stranger, who pretends to be a nephew or grandson, who urgently needs money.

And you should talk to the ISP. Probably that IP belongs to another victim, not to the perpetrator himself.

RE: Scammers
I once kept one on the phone for ages pretending to be Russian and offering to pay him in goats or borscht (Sorry for the stereotypes guys) then when I revealed myself called him a panchod (sister-f*cker) and said he was a disgrace to his family, country and people.

RE: Scammers
It was my first one. I almost hang up the phone, but then...
If I had my test laptop available at the moment, I'd have got him connected and see how long I could keep him busy.

Not sure the IP belonged to a victim, though.
The machine had a web server running!

A machine with Windows 7 running a PPTP and web server is nothing but a victim. A stupid victim, yes. But no criminal in his right mind would put that up.
