Fuel Door Hitch

Fuel Door Hitch
Hello team, trying to get son pictures and measurements from the Fuel Hitch. Mine is broken (I got the unit like that) but trying to recreate a 3D Printed part to fix this issue. If some one can take couple of picture from different angels and take some basic measurements, I can recreate the little hitch!

Thanks!

RE: Fuel Door Hitch
I'd be very interested in this as well...let us know what you come up with.

I'd like to come up with something where I can cleanly cut off the broken door stub to then insert a small bar magnet inside the recessed face hitch hole. Then somehow attach a small amount of metal to the broken door latch tip and basically use a magnetic door clasp-style system...which would last. I fear another clip-style system will just break again.

RE: Fuel Door Hitch
Most people I've seen use velcro -- that's what I did myself.

A clip replacement will just break again.

If you add a magnet, you should add one at the bottom too to prevent the door from flexing.

RE: Fuel Door Hitch
I have a friend who has printed me several of these Fuel door latch tabs (from the file posted above). I've not been able to meet-up with him to take possession of the 3D prints to fix my Fuel door latch.

If it all works out, I'll post the extras here for others for a fair price. But I don't know when I'll be getting them...I'll keep this thread updated.

RE: Fuel Door Hitch
Hi, I designed that piece linked above. I've already fixed about 5 doors with it. I use epoxy for gluing it down. At the end it's more sturdy than the original plastic Smile You may need to file down its edges, depending on the 3D printer used.

Also I designed this drive bay cover as I had several machines that were missing it - https://github.com/flexion-unity/SGI-3DP...-bay-cover

RE: Fuel Door Hitch
Any advice about the mounting distance? The back is slanted. So is the pointy rear supposed to touch in inside door or is there a known gap distance? A hint would be welcome.

The skewed end should simply touch the door. The skew doesnt copy the door 100% but it’s close enough. All the door I fixed so far had some stump left so I kept it and put the printed one on top of it so the stump served as a support. I first glued it with a superglue, checked that it is aligned well enough and finished it with epoxy.
