So this time last year or thereabouts our statistics were approximately:

Database size: 33M
Attachment usage: 800MB

As of today we have reached 70 M of database usage, and 1.3 GB attachment size.

The site has continued to grow and become something amazing beyond my wildest dreams so I wanted to thank everybody for this. It doesn't matter how big we get in terms of disk space or how bulky the forum becomes to run I will continuously find ways to optimize and keep the site snappy

Yeah, they can be, but one reason I chose MyBB (I know it's not the "greatest" in the eyes of many" was its excellent performance. Unique view requests barely use 2M of RAM, cached ones use almost nothing. The server we're on has survived some pretty severe slashdotting, and I've configured MariaDB pretty decently. I kinda wish we had started on PGSQL -- I want to migrate to it eventually, but MariaDB works great fwiw.

The biggest reason though, besides a dislike of VBulletin and Xen, is that I prefer a FOSS product to modify. We've got some MAJOR upgrades coming eventually
