Old SGI quote
Found this among some other items in a box.. Imagine what it would be with inflation in today's $$'s. $3K for setup, ouch! At least they offered me a nice discount.

Wow, but also insulting, a discount because you're "less special".  Ouch, after that I demand more discount!  Biggrin

What did the 110vac programming terminal look like? wonder if any collectors have everything on this list. I've always marveled at sgis prices lol. That one commercial from them where they are like robin hood or something taking from bill and giving to the poor made me laugh. I think there is a reason they loved purple so much (the colour of royalty).

I have an Origin 200, Octane, and O2.

Did you buy the Origin for the extra drive space/server aspect?

I have always wondered how the Origin 200 where used as render nodes since there were so many deployed at VFX houses early on.

Were you able to use the Origin 200 as a render node as well as a server?

---EDIT----

Wait.. Sorry, I just realized this may only be a quote that you never actually purchased... my bad. Wink

This was one of the purchases that I did with SGI back in the day, there were quite a few. I ended up on the strategic customer list which opened the doors to a lot of perks from SGI. The Origin 2000 was used as a server for MediaBase as an on-demand video streaming server. I still have the SGI product brief that was put together showcasing what I was doing. I used the Indigo High Impact for visualization, primarily for creating corporate animations. I used the O2 for video editing and graphic design work. I had a huge hardware setup, multiple Indy's for playing back full-screen, full motion videos at events that we toured the country with.
