SATA with a Tezro

SATA with a Tezro
What would be the best way to setup a SATA drive on an Tezro? It's simple enough with the Fuel, with a molex adapter and an LSI SATA card. But the Tezro doesn't have the necessary power connectors or mounting space to accommodate a SATA drive. Some of the LSI SATA PCI cards allow for external SATA use with Infiniband or miniSAS connectors, but it seems like an inelegant solution, requiring an external PC power supply that needs pins shorted to start. What are some better options?

Depends if you want to give up your cdrom player. Used the power from that and added a four bay 2.5” enclosure to fit the ssd’s.

Are there any cars that offers this connection? The breakout cables for Infiniband and miniSAS all seem to be internal SATA.

Use a adapter bracket, adapt INTERNAL SATA connector to either eSATA or PeSATA on a bracket.

Is this PCI SATA compatible with an Octane w/ PCI cage by any chance?

Probably not Stormy - most of the cards I've found are 3.3v and thus cannot work in a 5V Octane PCI cage.

You'd also be wrestling with different kernels which may not allow loading of the specific drivers. USB does not work in an Octane PCI cage, for instance.

The driver for LSI SAS is the same one that handles 4Gb/s LSI FC chips and LSI Ultra320 SCSI and it only works on IP35 family (O3x00 / O3x0 / Fuel / Tezro).

Octane is IP30 so you're out of luck.
