Looking forward to any progress.  Graphics and imaging apps are way much more interesting that basic UNIX ports. This is what these machines were made for. Best of luck.

Oh I agree. Once we have a base of Nekoware II stuff, things like Blender, cinepaint etc. are rather high priority.

Add to that Inkscape to that list since Illustrator won't work on 6.5.30... I have gotten Premiere to work on my Fuel..

Inkscape is a maybe. There's some dependencies on the FreeBSD version that would make it impossible if they're not optional in the configure.

There is a Neko version, I have not been able to successfully get it working. There is also another vector based drawing program Skencil, can't get that one to work as well. Being able to create vector images is great for doing some advanced shapes to bring into Maya (or whatever 3D program) and other useful illustrations, with out having to get back on the Mac. Maybe this functionality exists with CorelDraw?? Can't find a copy anywhere to test it out.

That's my two lira on the subject.

What I meant was modern inkscape; because it now depends on some things in FreeBSD I can't turn off. I understand why you want it, but we can't always have everything we want. Old versions may be possible, but I dunno.

Frankly, Qt is turning out to be infuriating.  It's got its own configure system that claims to support IRIX but mixes MIPSPro compiler option syntax with GNU-style ld options.  The configure script will let you specify paths (to use Nekoware libraries, for example) but doesn't necessarily insert those paths into the Makefile everywhere they're needed.  Running 'make clean' doesn't remove everything it should.  Re-running 'make' after a failed build re-builds a whole bunch of stuff that's already built and could be skipped, adding about a half hour to each cycle.

Both MIPSPro and GCC are supposedly supported but it must be an earlier GCC than what I've been using.  GCC errors out where it's unable to cast one type to another.  I know GCC got stricter about that as time went on.  Qt 2 is contemporary with GCC 3.2 or earlier, by the looks of things.  So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that GCC 4.x isn't working.

What looked like a fun project for a weekend is going to take a few weekends instead.  There don't appear to be any major show-stoppers; just a lot of little nuisances.

Illustrator works on 30, it's just a pain to get it there. That's the Display Postscript stuff.

Inkscape is a big undertaking. First, unless you go way back it uses a version of gtk that is a mess.

Worse, it doesn't work well on anything ...  maybe there is some version of Linux that it works on but nothing I have ever tried. If you so much as move the mouse fast, it crashes. Really bad software.

Skencil is even worse.

Can you elaborate on getting Illustrator to work? It just hangs.
