Actually, in the interest of fact, no. Anything was permissible at nekochan except for talking about it in public. The only thing all the little twerps squalling about the "greybeards at nekochan" managed to do was piss off pete to the point where he shut it down in anger. Three weeks later it's the same farking situation here because if you have an IQ over ten you don't go around pissing off Adobe.

There were initially quite a few people here who obviously do not have an IQ higher than 10.

Sorry to be rude but facts is facts.

RE: Commercial Software Request Megathread
It's not just adobe I'm worried about. Because first you could justify saying that the software is obsolete and the platform isn't available. Then you have people asking for help with Windows software, which is dicey because windows is an extant operating system. Then it becomes an all out free for all. So yeah, that's where I stand and I am aware that being considered warez would doom the site.

I'm the system admin of this site. Private security technician, licensed locksmith, hack of a c developer and vintage computer enthusiast.

Technical problems should be sent my way.

RE: Commercial Software Request Megathread
Hi there, now that I know the name of what I'm looking for:

I need

APD - aka Asynchronous Personality Daemon

for IRIX (6.5.30?)
It's supposed to make LTO tape backups "faster"

Cheers

RE: Commercial Software Request Megathread
Does anybody know which was the last version of Lightscape for IRIX? I'd really love to get it (although, to be honest, even an older version would be nice to get). If I could travel back in time to 1997 when I bought my first SGI (an O2), I would say to the myself of 1997: Buy Lightscape!!! Since then, Lightscape has been like a "unicorn" to me: something people affirms that ran on IRIX, you even saw demos of its prerendered (baked) scenes on SGI Performer, but, never ever saw the actual software running on IRIX myself. Being a lover of radiosity solvers, it's sad that it seems impossible to get it nowadays.

There's very little information out there. Even in the forums, there's only one hit for it: https://forums.irixnet.org/thread-2030.html

And the most complete information I found is this: https://forums.chaos.com/forum/chaos-com...post313166 which basically says that Lightscape for IRIX was discontinued in 1996, but it doesn't say which was the last version.

Does anybody know more? Does any backup of the software still exist?

Does anybody have an available backup of Alias Studiopaint 3D 3.2 ? I mean this one: https://download.autodesk.com/us/aliasst...t_3.2.html

I found a backup of the the 9.5 version, but I'm looking for 3.2, because that's the version compatible with Alias 7.5

Also looking for these titles: Discreet Logic Taarna 3D and TDI Explore (Alias|Wavefront Explore)

RE: Commercial Software Request Megathread
I'm seeking for Maya 1.01, 1.5 or 2.x for IRIX.

Already installed Maya 1.0 onto the following systems:

IRIX 6.5 on Indy XL24 192 MB:

The main program window appears and freezes the entire system. Only power cycling can reboot it.

IRIX 6.2 on Indy XL24 192 MB:

Maya is launching, editors are working, but clicking the color selector in shader group editor causes a fatal crash (process killed).

Jeez, talk about a blast from the past.... Lightscape was so niche, even in its heyday.
There was an ebay auction for a copy at one point a few years ago.
There is a PDF manual for it here strangely.... https://web.mit.edu/4.455/software/light...0Guide.pdf
