Consoles are becoming relevant as far as high end gaming goes!

RE: Consoles are becoming relevant as far as high end gaming goes!
The 360 has some nice games, such as Fable 2. Fable 3 was a disappointment, but Fable 2? Fuck yes, that was like a mixture of Zelda and GTA to me.

As far as whether the PS5 and Xbox Series X will cream high end PCs, I think you'll always have advocates in both camps. But I'm noticing there's a massive slowdown in both graphics and CPU intensity development. My haswell laptop from 2013-ish feels about as snappy as a laptop released 4 years later, in 2017.

The 360 was shite as far as build quality went, and I'm a hardware man!!!

The slowdown in incremental GPU and CPU performance improvement has allowed the consoles to catch up!

Larger volumes = reduced production cost, therefor the consoles are better value for money in comparison!

Not really. It's just that the PS5 will now be using current gen hardware instead of 2013 hardware which was only a minor improvement of a 2011 architecture that was already underpowered at launch and barely beat out AMD's Phenom chips from 2010. If the PS5 lasts another 7 years the hardware will be underpowered again, until we get a future "PS6" or whatever it's called.

Yeah, the PS4 uses Jaguar architecture, the PS5 and Xbox Series X will use Zen 2.

It doesn’t pay to buy cutting-edge as I have in the past, as you loose all the way!

I suppose, everyone should at least experience spending $10000 on a PC once in their life, to see what I mean! If you chase the latest hardware, you’ll end up chasing all your life. At one time, I also used to buy every “super card” Nvidia released, only to find that they were very quickly driven into obsolescence! Having cost me a small fortune!

My gaming PC has been through about $6000 worth the Graphics cards since I started using it! And I now think that enough is enough!

I’m not quoting these figures to brag (as I’ve actually wasted quite a bit of money here, which could have been pumped into more valuable investments!), but instead to indicate that I do have enough experience in this field to have a pretty valid opinion!

Food for thought, if I'd only been using consoles, that $6000 would probably got me to the PlayStationX (10) when it's finally released, always keep inflation in mind!!!! (obviously, I do understand that earlier consoles such as the PS3 did have unacceptably poor performance, when compared to PC!)

I have wised up and realized, that it pays to wait a bit for the technology to be offered to you cheaply. Consoles, especially the latest ones allow for this.

Consoles have always been way behind the latest top spec PC’s at launch, but the launch of the PS5 will see this gap being the smallest it’s ever been!

Don’t underestimate the value of the proprietary SSD IO technology they’ve deployed in this system!!! (Most idiots only see the 12 TerraFlop, absolute performance of the Xbox Series X's GPU, but fail to recognise that the PS5 with it's 10.3 TerraFlop GPU, coupled with this innovative SSD IO technology will actually end up being more powerful as far as real world application goes!) YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO FEED THE MONSTER!!! And the PS5's SSD will certainly prove to be an asset in this regard!!!
