I got it installed on my Octane2, IRIX 6.5.30, was excited to see it supported a trial/demo mode, but...it's freaking out because it uses Flexlm (surprise) and it sees I have lmgrd running already and it won't start - "EASY5 did not find any valid licenses"

Hmm, I'll have to try this out on my J5600 once I sort out the networking errors.

necron2600, stated that he doesn’t have any “special sauce” probably meaning no license file.

So this is a problem!!!

Yes, I realize there is no license, but it's not working in the demo mode either because it sees that I have a running lmgrd and thinks i want to run in licensed mode, ugh.

I have yet to run/try this software myself.. but you could kill any running lmgrd process from the command line that shows up in a 'ps' list output (or find out which startup script handles it) and then start up EASY5? You could start up the killed lmgrd process later or, more lazy, just reboot.

Yep, that's possible, I just have so much fear of all the flexlm stuff since it took so long to get it all working correctly, i don't want to mess with it haha. I have running versions of Maya v1 - v6.5, Power Animator v7, v8.1, v8.2, v8.5, v9, Studio Tools v11, v13, Softimage v3.9, but i'll give it a shot.

Looks like you copied the CD to a hard disk, but the installation program is looking for it on the CD ...
