indizones on IRIX 5.3
It has been so long since I have used 5.3. I tried installing some Indizone stuff and it wants eoe1.sw.lib. I can't find this anywhere. Does Indizone cds install on 5.3? If so, where do I get that eoe1.sw.lib? I have just about everything ever made for 5.3 installed on this new Indy build.

thanks!

RE: indizones on IRIX 5.3
eoe1.sw.lib is a pretty basic piece of the IRIX installation.  Your system wouldn't run without it.

What's the exact error message you're seeing?  I'd guess that it's a version mis-match.

The software you're trying to install might be for an entirely different version of IRIX or maybe you just need a specific patch level.

I hate following up to myself, but...

After a little digging, it looks like eoe1.sw.lib is from the IRIX 4.0.x series.  So the software in question is for something older than your 5.3 box.  Which makes sense.  This page suggests IndiZone originated in 1992, but IRIX 5.3 didn't come along until late 1994 according to sgistuff.net.

So if you set inst to ignore conflicts would you guess that it would work?

Probably not. The symbols between the libc for IRIX 4.0 and 5.3 are not the same, so while it could work, all it takes is one mismatched data symbol to corrupt it. Conflicts also prevent a tardist from overwriting binaries or libraries that are needed.

RE: indizones on IRIX 5.3
It wasn't all games, but almost all. I think 3 or 4 would install. I always thought that the Indizone stuff was for Indy but I guess it was for Indigo* as well. It does state that it shipped with the new Indigo2 and Indy which the Indy did not run IRIX prior to 5.1. I guess there were a handful of games that were written on Indy that work and the rest were written on Indigo2 running 4.0.5. Does the ftp server have the Indizone images? I thought I had Indizone3 but can't seem to find it.

Indizone were part of a contest. You could submit your own programs, the winner would receive an Indy and the best entries ended up on CD.

RE: indizones on IRIX 5.3
Okay, I went back again and checked. Indizone 1 doesn't work at all on 5.3. Nothing will install because it is looking for that eoe1.sw.lib so I am guessing that is only for Indigo/Onyx1/Indigo2/Crimson/PI or anything running IRIX 4.

I was able to install everything off of the Indizone2 disc. I haven't found my Indizone3 but I would imagine it would work on 5.3. The games on Indizone1 are not on Indizone2 either.

No. Indizone isn't on our FTP services.

There is info about it archived here: http://archive.irixnet.org/siliconsurf/p...iZone.html

I have an Indizone 1 CD, mine says it is the "5.2 release" and it works fine on IRIX 6.5 - there were two earlier releases of it though. I did upload it to the FTP a while back, not sure if it was purged at some point.
