SGI Challenge S SCSI mezzanine
I've got a challenge S with the SCSI mezzanine board, but it doesn't show up in the output of hinv in the command monitor and obviously no device can boot from it. Is there anything I should try before I go probing around it with an oscilloscope?

Clean the connections with a scrub brush and alcohol. Reseat. Try again.

If I recall things correctly the external SCSI ports on the IOPLUS board do NOT show up at PROM level (Command Monitor). So that is normal.

What are you wanting to boot with those differential SCSI ports? Not too many HVD SCSI devices floating around - I was trying to get an 8mm dat drive to put on mine - but people who sell IBM gear on ebay are incapable of shipping devices without them breaking in the mail.

As others have said...it's possible the PROM doesn't recognize that board at all. The command monitor has to fit in that little ROM chip so it doesn't cover add-in cards usually and I wouldn't be surprised if it only handled a subset of the Indy.
