Cheap HDMI Adapter Test: Success

Cheap HDMI Adapter Test: Success
On a whim I ordered a cheap Chinese VGA to HDMI adapter and was pleasantly surprised that it does indeed work. $15 USD well spent thus far.

First test using CB_HK's adapter.

The image is clear but certainly kinda bright and a bit washed out, but I can adjust the colors on the monitor end as well as gamma and other things.

I'll do some more tests with the more popular DIP switch cables on eBay, and then I'll say whether or not I can recommend the device.

And second test confirms that it works with the H/V Sync setting, that is:

1- On
2- On
3- Off
4- On
5- On
6- On
7- Off
8- Off
9- On
10- Off
11- On
12- Off

It works at 1280x1024 at least with that DIP switch adapter. I'll be testing more thoroughly, but at least we have a partial test that works.

So it also works for VPro. The VPro strangely does get the green tint, but the SI doesn't. I'm perplexed. But it is possible to adjust your monitor and your gamma in the OS to help get a more normal colormap.

I'll test IR3 tomorrow. Thus far it's par for the course. I may rip it apart if someone wants, but I only expect to find an expoxy blob or no-name chip.
