Funimation vs Crunchyroll for English viewer
Just wondering what people thought of these two services? I prefer dubs (I know... Scream ) so Funimation may have an advantage in that respect. Both the catalogs look good, and I do like the offline viewing capability through Funimation.

RE: Funimation vs Crunchyroll for English viewer
I usually just torrent anime through one of the nyaa clones, because I prefer to have data offline for them. But Crunchyroll has a larger collection for now, though that may change if funimation acquires them.

Funimation dubs tend to be ass in my experience. I hate the Dragon Ball dub they did for instance.

I have a crunchyroll account, but Raion is right. Crunchyroll only has less than 1/4 of the anime released each season that I'd want to watch. NYAA for the win!!!

I've only seen 4 animes where the english dub was on par or better than the original japanese voice cast - They are:

1. The 2004-ish Ghost in the Shell anime series (both seasons, acting on par, yeah, really!).
2. Cowboy Bebop - acting better!
3. Trigun - acting better (some Japanese voices were irritating, like vash's)
4. DragonBall - NOT A FAN, but the original voice for Goku is SUPER irritating.

Everything else was much better subbed, the original voice actors, in Japanese, allow for certain vocal drawing out and intonations that english doesn't support but allows increased expressiveness that (in english) would normally be done through body language alone. Since they can use both, it becomes super expressive which help ironic and misunderstanding tropes.

Please note, I don't speak japanese but a have been an Anime fan since around 2002, when it started to come to Cartoon network's Adult Swim, very late night. Then I started watching active seasons. Fall Season 2020 is GREAT right now!

Goku's voice is like that because his voice actor is an old Japanese lady.

I had a Funimation paid account for a good while but eventually ran out of material I thought I’d like, I mean there’s plenty more on there, I also love that you can comment below the videos just like on YouTube comments are a reason I’ll stay on a website even if it’s got better competitors. Crunchyroll I didn’t really like. Everyone always says dubs are ass but there are good voice actors for different characters.

In seven deadly sins I consider the guy with the pink hairs voice actor to be one of the best I’ve ever heard. I’ve switched back and forth sometimes and some actors I like and some I don’t.
Rn I just do kickassanime because if it’s not on there it probably doesn’t exist.

The answer is definitely "Russian aggregator sites," because somehow the half-dozen porn ad overlays you have to click through are still less aggravating than the in-video ad breaks on the "legit" sites. (But maybe use a separate instance of Chrome Portable with no ties to your important accounts...) Or, yeah, just torrents.

I've never seen a modern dub I like as much as I enjoy the cheesy gonzo stuff Viz and ADV used to turn out. Especially when half the VAs are Pokemon alumni doing basically the same delivery; that's the best thing. If you're not gonna get that entertainment factor, you might as well just watch it in the original.
