Best IRIX version for Indigo2 R10000
Hi

I have a nice Indigo2 and a Origin200 with 2 R10000 which runs 6.5.22 from what I know, its not been installed by me but now I plan to do a new install.

What is the prefered version to install, is that 6.5.22 or 6.5.30?

Having a alot of Sun boxes online aswell a NFS server, is tftpboot from the Sun a simple way or what is the best no CD install?

.22 is the highest the Indy can support. The Origin 200 can support up to .30 - there's no real reason to go .30 on an Origin though. It's up to you!

Okey, so there is no SW updates that is relevant in a upgrade top .30, was .30 then only to support new machines or?

And also, for all SW on IRIXNET, what is the best supported OS?

.22 and .30 should have close to identical support. nekoware requires .22, and most other FOSS efforts seem to recommend that as a bare minimum.

Yeah, .30 is mostly relevant for the newer machines with graphics, those with USB and firewire buses, etc.

There are several options:

- Turning a Unix/Linux machine into an installation server, see http://techpubs.spinlocksolutions.com/ir...linux.html
- Use booterizer, an Ansible/Vagrant VM to be used as an IRIX install server, see https://github.com/unxmaal/booterizer
- Use irixboot, a Vagrant VM similar to booterizer, see https://github.com/halfmanhalftaco/irixboot
- Use DINA, A VMPlayer image, see https://wiki.preterhuman.net/Using_DINA_...on_of_IRIX
- USe irix-install, a minimalistic Docker image i created, see https://hub.docker.com/r/dexter1/irix-install/
