Hah, weird.

Speaking of Power Animator, I have always wondered if that is the software that was used for the game Origin's Privateer or maybe even Wing Commander 2?

Look at the box art for wc2 and Privateer.

The 3D scenes look pretty good for 1992-1993 and I am trying to consider if there really was another way to render that kind of work that wasn't Power Animator during that time?

Anyways, I have yet to find a VW 320. I do want to have one at some point. Though, it would likely just be a older Maya/Softimage demobox. Wish it could run Power Animator. I think it is the most fun of the old apps to play with.

The VW's are getting harder to find. I was looking for one last year and almost bought one, unfortunately during testing by the seller, the main board required some recapping work so he couldn't sell it. I still have my license auth code and dongle for 3DS Max 2.5 and was going to install that plus Maya version 1 or 2. The goal was keeping the VW320 period correct.

I see what you mean about the artwork. Anytime I see vintage sci-fi CGI, the first app I think of is Lightwave as they had a pretty good render as well.

I have some 320s, but I won't be able to deal with them until next year, probably Feb or March. Btw, they're a total pain to sort out. Friend & I were battling with one the other day, what looked like bad RAM based on the front blink code turned out to be a dodgy CPU.

I swear the blink code on my 540 correlates with nothing in the manual. Troubleshooting is pure brute force.

Pretty sure that WC was done in 3D Studio, as it was called at the time.

Where are you at ? I sold one to a friend a long time ago, he may still have it, stuck in a closet somewhere. Marin County.
